Budgeting

A budget that fits how you actually spend

Set budgets by the month or by the year, see where your money goes, and know what's left, all in the same app as your accounts and investments.

Monthly and yearly budgets

Most costs come every month. Some, like insurance, travel or gifts, come once or twice a year. Give each category a monthly or a yearly budget, and choose whether a monthly budget's unused money rolls over to next month.

October budget: income $7,980, expenses $6,694, cash flow up $1,286, with $1,613 saved (20%) and $6,694 spent of a $6,670 budget. October budget: income $7,980, expenses $6,694, cash flow up $1,286, with $1,613 saved (20%) and $6,694 spent of a $6,670 budget.

See where your money went, and how it's changing

Your budget shows income, spending and what's left, by group and by category, along with your top merchants. Switch between months, quarters and years to compare income and spending over time. Open any group or category to see how it compares with last month, last quarter or last year.

Monthly targets by group: housing $2,556 of $2,600, bills $380 of $450, food $726 of $1,000, shopping $867 of $700 ($167 over). Monthly targets by group: housing $2,556 of $2,600, bills $380 of $450, food $726 of $1,000, shopping $867 of $700 ($167 over).

Bills and subscriptions, before they land

Stridefly spots payments that repeat, like rent, utilities and subscriptions, and asks you to confirm them. Confirmed ones show up in a This week card on your budget, with the days they're expected and a range for what each should cost, and in one list of everything that repeats. It shows how much your bills and subscriptions come to in a month, and when a bill moves up or down from last time.

This week card on the Budget tab: a week of days with dots on the days payments are expected, then three monthly bills with the range each is expected to cost and how much it moved from last time. Goals you can watch grow

Set a savings goal, such as an emergency fund or a down payment, with a target amount and, if you like, a date. Choose the accounts the money sits in, and Stridefly shows how much you've saved, how much is left to go and how far along you are. If you set a date, it shows about how much to put away each month to get there.

A bigger month, and a way to cover an overspend

Planning a trip month or a big December? Set an amount for that one month and your usual budget stays as it is. When a category runs over, move unspent money from another category to cover it. The move applies to the current month only, and your total budget stays the same.

Your categories, your way

Create categories and groups that match how you think about money, and set rules so purchases from the same place always land in the right one. Keep some out of your budget, like business expenses, taxes or a rental property, and they still appear in their own section, so nothing gets lost. Money you move between your own accounts isn't spending, so transfers stay out of your budget too. Transactions →
