FAQ

Questions people ask about Stridefly

Stridefly is a budget, net worth and portfolio app for your phone, in private beta. Here are straight answers to the questions we hear most, including the ones where the answer is "not today."

Joining the beta

How do I install it?

When your group opens, we email you how to install Stridefly through TestFlight, Apple's free app for testing new apps. You get TestFlight from the App Store, then install Stridefly from it in a couple of taps.

What is the pricing for Stridefly?

Stridefly is free during the beta. We'll share pricing before the App Store launch.

How do I join the beta?

Join the waitlist on this site. The beta is for people in the US with an iPhone on iOS 18 or later who will use Stridefly with their real accounts. We invite people in small groups, starting in November, and email you when your group opens.

What happens when the beta ends?

We're running the beta to gather feedback and improve Stridefly based on what testers tell us. When it's ready, we'll launch it publicly on the App Store and email everyone on the waitlist and in the beta. We're aiming for early 2027.

Getting started

Do I need to make an account?

No. You can add your accounts by hand without signing up, and demo mode lets you try Stridefly with sample data. You sign in with Apple only if you choose to link a bank, or to subscribe.

What's available in demo mode?

The whole app with sample data. Pick one of three households and explore net worth, budgets and transactions, and investing with allocation, a rebalance plan and income. It needs no account, and you can leave it from Settings.

Can I import my history from a spreadsheet or another app?

Yes. You can import transactions, positions and years of net worth history from CSV files, so you don't start from zero. Most transaction formats are detected automatically, rows that can't be read are skipped and listed, and possible duplicates are flagged for you to review.

How can I get started from scratch?

In your first week, a "Getting started" card on Home lists a few first steps, such as adding the other kind of account and setting a monthly target. Once you have a full month of spending, Stridefly suggests a monthly budget from your recent months, which you can use with one tap or replace with your own.

Privacy and security

Where is my financial data stored?

Your accounts, balances, transactions, budgets and positions are saved on your phone and in your own iCloud account. We don't run a financial database that stores them. You can lock the app with Face ID and hide your balances with a tap.

Does my data pass through your servers?

Our service keeps only what it needs to run: an encrypted key and the institution's name for each connection, a code Apple provides for your Stridefly account (plus your name and email if you choose to share them), basic device details such as the app version and notification token, and request logs. It never keeps your balances, positions or transactions; when you connect a bank or brokerage, that data passes through it on its way to your phone. Ticker symbols pass through it when the app looks up prices. The Privacy & security page has the details.

Does Stridefly see my bank login?

No. You sign in through Plaid or your institution, and Stridefly never receives your login details. You can disconnect an institution at any time.

Do you sell my data?

No. We never sell your personal information, and we don't share your financial data for advertising or marketing.

Are analytics on?

No. Analytics are off until you turn them on, and you can change your choice in Settings. They never include your name, email, financial data or account details.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Export your data whenever you like. When you're signed in, Erase device data removes your financial data from your phone and its iCloud copy, and Delete Account also removes your Stridefly account and disconnects your institutions. Both are in Settings, and Delete Account cannot be undone.

Banks and accounts

Which banks and brokerages can I connect?

Stridefly connects to US banks, card issuers and brokerages through Plaid, bringing in balances, transactions and investments. To check yours, search US institutions in Plaid's coverage explorer (plaid.com/docs/institutions).

What if my bank isn't supported?

You can still track it. Add the account by hand, or import its transactions or positions from a CSV file, and it counts in your net worth and budget like any other.

What kinds of accounts can I track?

Checking, savings, credit cards, brokerage and retirement accounts, health savings accounts (HSA), 529 education savings and UTMA custodial accounts. Loans such as a mortgage can be connected through Plaid or added by hand, and property like your home is added by hand.

Platforms and availability

Is there an Android app?

Not today. Stridefly is an iPhone app and needs iOS 18 or later.

Is there a web or desktop version?

Not today. Stridefly is an iPhone app.

Does Stridefly work outside the US?

Not today. Connecting a bank works with US institutions only.
